Remilekun Khalid Safaru (born January 26, 1981), better known as Reminisce or Alaga Ibile, is a multi-talented Nigerian singer, rapper, composer, businessman, and actor.

He is fluent in both English and Yoruba, his native tongue. He is the founder of EDGE Records, which once housed Ola Dips. Akeem Adisa, Sojay, and Yovi are also signed to the label.

Reminisce rose to prominence after appearing on Jah Bless’ song, Joor Remix, alongside Durella, Ice Prince, elDee, and Ruggedman.

To cement his identity, he launched Kako Bii Chicken’s street banger, which became an instant national success.

Early Life

Remilekun Abdulkalid Safaru is better known as Reminisce. He is from Ajilete, Yewa South LGA in Ogun State, Nigeria’s westernmost state. He was born on January 26, 1981, making him 42 years old.

He grew up wanting to be a rapper. Reminisce came from a family that was supportive of his goals. Each time, he worked to improve his abilities.

He was interested in numerous kinds of local and foreign music while in high school, and he also participated in school activities. He honed his rapping abilities by listening to Nas, Jay-Z, and Snoop Dogg.

Education

Reminisce finished secondary school and earned his First School Leaving Certificate as well as his West African Senior School Certificate.

He attended Kwara State Polytechnic after finishing secondary school to study Purchasing and Supply. He has a Higher National Diploma in Logistics.

Career

Reminisce participated in school events such as competition and many others, as well as any training that had to do with music and entertainment during his school years.

This was one of the ways he honed his rapping skills by imitating the techniques of his idols Nas, Jay Z, and Snoop Dogg.

Reminisce recorded his debut hardcore rap song with the Coded Tunes record label in 2006, but it was never published. Reminisce reappeared in 9ice’s album “Gongo Aso” two years later.

He performed well on the album’s “Bachelor’s Life” rap stanza. This performance thrust Reminisce into the spotlight. He released his first single, “Ever Since,” which featured 9ice.

This song was inspired entirely by his life narrative. After a while, he released another track titled “If Only,” which was created by D’Tunes and would be received as a romance song. His two hits laid the groundwork for his remarkable career in music.

Reminisce chose to create albums after releasing singles in 2010, and in 2013, he released his first album, “Book Of Rap Stories,” with Sarz at Edge Records Studios.

After a while, Reminisce released another excellent single titled “Kako Bii Chicken,” as well as other songs such as “If Only” and “2mussh.” Sarz, Legendury Beatz, Joshbeatz, Jospo, and Pastor Child created the 13-track “Book Of Rap Stories” CD.

Reminisce released his second album “Alaga Ibile” on November 15, 2013. Wizkid, Davido, Fela Kuti, Fantasi, and 3rd World are among the artists who have contributed to this album.

Reminisce released a third album titled “Baba Hafusa” in 2015. This third album provided him with the significant break he had been looking for, placing him at number 12 on the Billboard Charts in the World Music category.

For weeks, Baba Hafusa’s album rated first on iTunes, and many Nigerians believed it to be one of the best hip hop albums in Nigerian history.

This was because to the confluence of hip hop, Fuji, and afrobeat. El-Hadj (2016) and Ponmile (2017) are two of his previous albums.

Apart from releasing singles and albums, Reminisce has collaborated with several artists, including Phenom in “ASHEWO”, MI Abaga in “Shekpe”, Mr Eazi in “If E No Be God” and Dj Enimoney in “Diet”.

Reminisce is also interested in brand marketing. He is a brand ambassador for Samsung and Origin, a popular herb and liquor cocktail produced in Africa by Diageo plc.

Reminisce also appeared in the Netflix film King of Boys.

Personal Life

Reminisce is married to Iya Hafusa and they have two children, Hafusa Safaru and Fatimah Safaru.
