Ayoleyi Hanniel Solomon, better known by his stage as Reekado Banks, was born in Nigeria on December 6, 1993.

He joined Mavin Records in 2014 and parted ways with the company in 2018. Before signing a record deal with Mavin Records, he performed under the name Spicy.

At the 2014 Headies, Reekado Banks was named Rookie of the Year. At the 2015 Headies, he received the contentious Next Rated award.

On September 1, 2016, he released his first studio album, Spotlight, which peaked at number 10 on the Billboard World Albums chart.

In 2008, Reekado Banks began work on his first batch of tunes. All of his earliest tracks were made by his older brother, who also taught him how to sing, write, and produce. By fusing the two names’ meanings, he created the stage name Reekado Banks.

His stage name is partially translated as “Strong Ruler” and partially as “Wealth,” respectively.His main musical influences include Don Jazzy, 2Baba, DJ Jimmy Jatt, Olamide, and M.I. Abaga.

His brother submitted several of his songs to the label during an online talent search, which led to his record deal with Mavin Records. Following the selection of his entry from among more than 5000 submissions, Reekado Banks was signed to Mavin Records.

In an interview with the National Mirror, he claimed that without his prior approval, his brother had submitted his music and spoken with the label on his behalf. Reekado Banks added to the National Mirror that he is a multifaceted musician who creates music since every person is unique and has various tastes.

The single “Turn It Up” was first released by Reekado Banks on February 21, 2014, which also happened to be the day he signed with Mavin Records. Tiwa Savage was featured on the song, which was made available as his debut official single through Mavin Records. He appeared on the critically praised song “Dorobucci” with Don Jazzy, Korede Bello, Tiwa Savage, Di’Ja, Dr. SID, and D’Prince.

Three joint songs, “Adaobi,” “Arise,” and “Looku Looku,” were released by Reekado Banks in collaboration with some of the musicians previously mentioned. He released the Don Jazzy-produced song “Katapot” on February 13, 2015. It was rumored to be a diss tune directed against Wande Coal and D’banj. Don Jazzy refuted the claims in tweets in February 2015.

Reekado Banks claimed in an interview with Vanguard Newspaper that he wrote “Katapot” just for his followers.

Globacom, a Nigerian telecommunications firm, signed Reekado Banks to an endorsement agreement in July 2015. After five years with Mavins Records, he announced his departure on December 7, 2018. Additionally, he disclosed the opening of Banks Music, his own independent company.

He fired Temi Solomon, his older brother, as his manager in September 2019. He gave the following explanation when asked why he did it: “It was just next level dealings, I wanted to get somewhere else, the vision became a lot farther, like I saw farther than I used to see and I just needed somebody that’ll see as much, most especially someone that’s been there with other people (artists) but me and my brother are cool.”

Reekado Banks reappeared in 2021 with a brand-new song titled “Ozumba Mbadiwe” after a hiatus during which he had no popular songs.

Perosnal Life

Reekado Banks has occasionally been photographed with Tolani Otedola, Femi Otedola’s daughter. Many people think that she could be his girlfriend. Reekado Banks is single and doesn’t have a wife.
