King Promise Biography


Young Ghanaian singer, songwriter, and musician Gregory Bortey Newman (born August 16, 1995) is best known by his stage name, King Promise.

His music is highly diverse, falling into the categories of Afrobeats, HighLife, R&B, and Hip-Hop. With songs like Oh yeah, Selfish, and Tokyo, he rose to prominence as one of the pioneers of the new school of Afrobeat.

Because to the influence his music has on all Ghanaians as well as Africans as a whole, it is hard to ignore him. One of the few artists in Ghana’s music scene, King Promise is quickly ascending to living legend status.

Early Life & Education

In the Greater Accra Region of Ghana, King Promise was born on August 16, 1995, to businessman Francis Newman and Angela Quaye. She has a sibling, although the public is not aware of her name.

He received his elementary and some of his secondary education at St. Anthony Academy in Accra, Ghana. He was then moved to Nungua Senior High School, where he eventually earned his senior high school diploma.

King Promise continued his studies at the Central University of Ghana, where he graduated in 2016 with a degree in economics and information studies. Despite his academic accomplishments, he has since turned his attention to music.

Career

In 2016, KillBeatz and Fuse ODG collaborated on King Promise’s debut hit, “Thank God,” which also featured the musical prodigy King Promise.

Under KillBeatz’s Legacy Life Entertainment (LLE) label, he has a recording deal. Gervin Ohene Addo currently oversees the label’s operations.

King Promise has also worked with a number of other well-known performers, including Mr Eazi, Scientific, J-Town, Adina, Pappy Kojo, Fuse ODG, and many more. He and Sarkodie worked together on DJ Vision’s hit single Double Trouble.

It spent weeks on the radio charts, earning praise from many DJs and other members of the music industry.

Awards & Nominations

Thanks to his first number-one album, King Promise was nominated for and ultimately won honors. Among other significant accolades, he won “Hiplife Song Of The Year” at the 2019 3Music Awards.

He additionally received the Best Male Singer award at the Ghana Music Awards UK. For the 2018 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, he was nominated for Artiste of the Year and Highlife Song of the Year.

He also won the Best Discovery Music Award at the 4 Syte TV Music Video Awards for his song “Thank God.”

Personal Life

King Promise claims in an interview that he has never had a girlfriend and that he would rather remain home than go on dates while discussing his love life.

The artist claims that his most recent date, which he has had twice, occurred in 2005. Since then, no allegations have established King Promise’s relationship status.

According to a new report, Serwaa Amihere is a media personality from Ghana that King Promise is allegedly courting. The couple has been seen together a few times, which is how the rumor started.

King Promise is single and has no children.

Net worth

King Promise’s net worth is said to be US$500,000, per online sources. His songs, concert bookings, and album sales all bring in money for him.
