Kingsley Chinwieke Okonkwo (born 18 April 1979) is a prominent Nigerian musician and songwriter who goes by the stage name Kcee.
The Southeast-bred performer, who has been in the industry for about two decades, rose to prominence with his hit songs Limpopo and Pull Over.
He was previously a member of the music duo Kcee Presh.
Kcee is a Five Star Entertainment signee and one of the company’s senior executives. He is the business giant E-Money’s elder brother.
Early Life
Kcee was born in Amapatu village, South-East Nigeria, to Chief Okonkwo and Mrs Okonkwo. Uli is his hometown in Anambra State’s Ihiala Local Government Area. On April 18, 1979, he was born and given the name Kingsley Chinwieke.
Kcee was reared in a Christian home because his parents were devout Catholics. As a result, he and his siblings went to church mass on a regular basis. Furthermore, he comes from a hardworking family that values both education and entrepreneurship equally.
He grew up in Anambra State before relocating to Lagos, the country’s commercial capital, in quest of greener pastures. One of the reasons he relocated to Lagos was to pursue his childhood dream of becoming a music sensation.
Kcee has a younger brother named Emeka, who goes by the moniker E-Money. Kcee’s career objectives have been supported by the latter, who has donated finances to establish his solo music career.
Education
Kcee received his primary and secondary schooling at top Anambra State public schools.
He received high marks in both his First School Leaving Certificate and his West African School Certificate.
Career
Kcee became friends with Hajie, who was likewise passionate in making mainstream music, when he was in the choir. They established the Hip-hop group KC Presh together. The pair competed for and won the Star Quest TV reality show. This was just the beginning of wonderful things for Kcee and his friend. Winning the show provided them with industry chances as they launched their music careers.
They collaborated on some successful tunes, which led to invitations to play at events and concerts. However, after some time, both artists chose to separate and pursue solo careers.
Kcee grabbed the industry by storm in 2012, when he released the top-charting hit Limpopo. The song was a commercial hit, and it helped launch Kcee’s career. Because of the single, he was nominated for several prizes.
Del B, one of the industry’s best producers, produced the song. He received Song Of The Year at the 2013 The Headies Awards for his work with Limpopo.
He added to his success with the hit song, Pull Over. The Wizkid-featured tune garnered extensive broadcast on radio and television stations throughout the world. It was also named one of the top ten club jams of the year.
In 2013, the outstanding singer Kcee released his debut studio album, Takeover. Thousands of copies of the album were sold worldwide. After four years, he released his second album, Attention To Detail. Sweet Mary J was his first single of 2020, and it was released in 2020.

Kcee won the Hip Hop World Revelation Of The Year award at the 2014 The Headies Awards. That same year he was nominated for the Best R&B/Pop Album and Artiste Of The Year categories at the award show.

He is happily married to Ijeoma Okonkwo and the couple has three children: Kwemtochukwu Okonkwo, Kanye Okonkwo, and Somto Okonkwo. This year also marked his 44th birthday. Kcee has a number of desirable homes in Nigeria and Europe. His principal abode is in a posh estate on Victoria Island, and he has a car collection in his garage.
Kcee inked a multimillion-dollar deal with telecommunications giant MTN to be one of its ambassadors in 2013. Dame Patience Jonathan, Nigeria’s former first lady, designated him as a Peace Ambassador.
In 2015, he secured a contract with the Magnum brand. He got a fresh contract with MTN the same year.
