Favour Etuk (born January 18, 1990s), better known as Kaptain, is a popular Nigerian rapper, singer, and composer.

He rose to prominence in 2018 after releasing the smash tune Money Must Drop, which featured Afro-pop musician Effizy.

On March 20, 2020, he added another accomplishment to his resume when he released Kapacity, his most streamed and discussed EP. He frequently refers to himself as Boy Kaptain.

Early Life

Kaptain is a Millennial who was born on January 18th to Nigerian guardians in the city of Benin, Edo State.

He is an Ibibio/Efik boy from Akwa Ibom State in Nigeria’s south-south area.

His and his siblings were raised in Christian faith by their parents, who never stopped fighting to save the bar at any cost.

As a young man growing up in Benin, Edo State, he was exposed to a wide range of contemporary music and rap songs. Artists such as Erigga, P-Square, 2Baba, Naeto C, Wande Coal, 50 Cent, Tupac Shakur, Falz, Lil Kesh, Yung6ix, and The Notorious B.I.G. have influenced him musically.

He joined the ensemble as a pre-teenager, with a fair voice and tone, to serve the Lord and grow his expertise. He had successfully become a decent performer and was at that point composing songs within a couple of years.

Education

Kaptain finished his essential and optional school training at top non-public schools in Benin, Edo State.

Career

Kaptain was a working individual from the melodic craftsmen local area and participated in multiple school shows as an undergrad at one of Nigeria’s institutions. This experience helped him improve his specialization and create highly appealing songs.

He was still striving to be a better version of himself when he met Sunshine, a Nigerian record producer who aided, encouraged, and instructed him on how to rap after noticing his talent in that area. Prior to meeting Sunshine, he was a dancer who had performed on multiple occasions across Nigeria’s states.

To hone his sound, he began doing the fronts of popular songs and posting them on the internet. True to form, many people flocked to his music, and his recordings began to circulate on the internet.

He released his first-ever single, which became a viral sensation, in 2012, while still very much in the music industry refining his sound. When he told his coworkers about it, they urged him to pursue music as a career, which he did.

During his career, Kaptain became a viral sensation, particularly in Nigeria’s south-south and southeast. Every rap fan was always miming his tracks, which resulted in the rapid spread of his sound. Because of his rapid growth, he has been likened to Nigerian rapper Erigga and is expected to continue on the legacy that Erigga established for southeast and south-south music culture.

He needed a management who believed in him to grow his music reach and career, so he met Infinity, who fell in love with his sound and became his manager. He was signed to Zaza Empire Records shortly after meeting Infinity. The record label served as the foundation for all of his musical releases and initiatives.

He released the tune Money Must Drop, which featured the outstanding singer Effizy. The single, which was accompanied by a video entirely funded by his record company, became an instant hit, establishing Kaptain as one of the most sought-after fast-rising rappers from Nigeria’s eastern region. To keep his name on the lips of music fans, he released the EP Kapacity, which consisted of four tracks. Gbese Gbese, Chemistry, In Love, and Problem were all hits for Kapacity.

Despite the short period in which it was dropped, the project received tremendous streams. Every single from the EP project was a hit, gaining more fans by the day. Millions of streams have been created across all streaming platforms by the project, which includes his discarded singles.

Kaptain, not wanting to be stingy with his reputation, collaborated with musicians such as Corizo, Kontrolla, and a slew of others.

He collaborated with Corizo, Snazzygrin, and Kontrolla on the pop tune Shortcut To Success.
