Born on October 2, 1989, Nasibu Abdul Juma is a Tanzanian Bongo Flava recording artist and vocalist better known by his stage name Diamond Platnumz (or just Diamond).
His music career began in earnest for Diamond in 2006, but things improved for him once he met Msafiri Peter, alias Papaa Misifa, who decided to help Diamond develop his talent financially. Diamond’s debut single, “Nenda Kamwambie,” was issued by the two of them jointly. The hit song “Number One,” which got him a BET Award nomination, is Diamond’s most well-known work. At the Big Brother Africa 7 eviction show in May 2012, he gave a performance.
The most popular and highly regarded Tanzanian artist at the time, Diamond is regarded as influential by his followers. He was among the musicians making the most money in the music industry of the African Great Lakes region in 2013 and was thought to be the Tanzanian artist with the most ringtone sales. In 2010, he issued his debut record, Kamwambie. Two years later, the best-selling Lala Salama came out.
At the Tanzania Music Trophies on May 3, 2014, Diamond Platnumz broke his own record by taking home 7 awards, including Best Male Writer, Best Male Artist, Best Song Writer, and Best Male Entertainer of the Year. The 2011 Tanzania Music Prizes saw recording artist 20% walk away with 5 awards, breaking the previous record. Diamond held the record for the most prizes won at the 2010 Tanzania Music Awards with three, before 20%’s accomplishments.
Between 2010 and 2014, Tanzania Music Awards ceremonies are believed to have given Diamond more than 15 awards. The singer won the Worldwide Act: Africa/India category of the Milan-based MTV Europe Music Awards in 2015 as well. At the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), which were held in Nigeria in November 2015, he took home the top prize.
