Akosua Kwakye, better known by her stage name AK Songstress, is a brilliant young dancehall performer from Ghana’s Ashanti area. She grew up with her grandmother and two siblings.
She encountered her German-born mother when life’s circumstances changed and welcomed her back. She then relocated to Accra, where she resided, together with her mother and siblings. Shortly after arriving in Accra, she later lost her grandmother.
Akosua discovered her love for music and acting from a very young age. She participated in a variety of singing events at school. She opted to pursue a career in singing after completing her senior year of high school, and Paradise Entertainment, the company that first produced 44 and VIP, has signed her.
Currently, she has twenty-four tracks out that are getting a lot of exposure, and she also filmed nine music videos in Ghana and South Africa. A gifted performer is renowned for her vigor and ability to engage the audience. One of the most well-known female performers from Ghana and Africa has always been AK Songstress’s goal.
She has long since developed in her imagination an interactive dreamy confirmation. She chose the Reggae/Dancehall genre of music when the time came to select one that could readily and elegantly describe her.
She didn’t appear out of nowhere to stamp her feet where her competitors dared not, nor did she suddenly enter the scene and instantly become one of the most talked-about females in the act.
She sought grooming under her current management, Paradise Entertainment, before anything could disrupt her goal. Her ability to be risk-taking and adventurous made her stand out, boosted her confidence, and taught her a lot of lessons that she now addresses in her lyrics.
After three years of training, in the year 2104, you will see that she was a “good student” who mastered the specifics of the genre in addition to her talent, zeal, and desire.
The 2014 BASS Awards saw Ak Songstress become the first ever woman to triumph in the category of “Discovery of the Year for Dancehall/Reggae Artiste” among male competitors. Her song “Holiday,” which was chosen as the competition’s most popular song, helped her win the inaugural season of “SUPERSTARS REALITY SHOW,” and her team took home the award for BEST MANAGEMENT TEAM.
However, AK Songstress was disqualified by management from the 2015 VGMAs. She received the 2015 City People Entertainment Awards Nigeria’s Best Female Musician (GH) honor. She further received the 2015 Bass Award for best female vocalist.
The partnership with dancehall king Sizzla Kalonji has been the high point of her career. She is a strong proponent of purity, righteousness, and oneness since she firmly believes in the concepts of reincarnation and karma. She has a great fondness for snakes. “At the end of time I will say to my creator, All the talents you bestowed on me, I did not leave any untouched,” is a famous remark by Akosua.
