The newest performer in the Nigerian indigenous rap scene is Habeeb Okikiola (born March 12, 1994). The rapper, singer, and songwriter with Yoruba roots is better known in the business as Portable Omolalomi.

Longtime musician Portable recently achieved success when he collaborated with Poco Lee and Olamide on the smash hit tune Zazuu Zeh.

The song, which is currently at the top of numerous music charts nationwide, has elevated Portable to notoriety and won over fans of the local rap scene in the nation.

The self-described “Son of Shaku Shaku,” “Street Problem,” “Portablebaeby,” and “Wahala Musician” have joined the list of quickly growing talents in the nation.

Early Life

The legendary musician Portable Omolalomi was born on March 12th, 1994 in the historic city of Abeokuta. He was given the name Habeeb Okikiola one week after his birth. He was born to the Yoruba family of Mr. and Mrs. Okikiola in the southwest Nigerian state of Ogun.

Portable Omolalomi and his siblings were raised by their parents in the city of Abeokuta and shared his parents’ commitment to Islam. Being raised in Abeokuta meant that Portable Omolalomi had to learn the language from a young age in order to communicate with his parents, friends from school and the neighborhood, and members of his extended family.

He was influenced by American rappers like Dr. Dre, Tupac Shakur, The Notorious B.I.G., and Snoop Dogg while still in elementary school as he listened to their music on his father’s audio cassette player. He looked up to these musicians and began writing rap songs anytime he was moved to do so.

However, the success of local rappers like Lord Of Ajasa, Dagrin, Danny Young, Olamide, QDot, and CDQ inspired him to convert to Yoruba rap and pursue a career in music.

Education

Portable Omolalomi didn’t lose out on the chance to receive a top-notch education while still a child.

For his elementary and senior school education, his parents saw to it that he was enrolled in prestigious public schools in Abeokuta.

However, he made the decision not to continue his education at the university and instead chose to pursue a career in training.

Career

Portable Omolalomi made the decision to relocate to Lagos State, the continent’s music capital, realizing that being close to the action would increase his chances of success.

Since he frequently wrote fresh rap songs while Portable Omolalomi was in Lagos, he looked for producers with whom he might collaborate. To pay his costs, he continued to work a 9 to 5 job as an artisan in Lagos’ mainland area.

Portable Omolalomi didn’t let the failure of a few of the songs he recorded to achieve commercial success stop him from pursuing his goal of becoming an A-list musician. His recent fortuitous encounter with his musical idol, Olamide, was a stroke of luck. Portable experienced an emotional outburst as he bent down and clutched Olamide’s knees while sobbing nonstop.

Fortunately for Portable Omolalomi, Olamide was impressed with his artistic talent and hired him for a long-running collaboration with dancer and musician Poco Lee. The song by Zazuu Zeh, which was born from the initiative, immediately went viral. Portable has gained notoriety as a result of the song, whose catchy lyrics and the phrase “Zazuu Zeh” have caused it to go viral in the music industry.

Following the song’s success, Portable Omolalomi received numerous invitations for collaboration from well-known musicians.
