The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has set up a separate team to investigate claims of bribery involving famous crossdresser Idris Okuneye, known as Bobrisky, and workers from the correctional service.

Tunji-Ojo said the group, started on Monday, was needed to clean up the staff of the Nigeria Correctional Services, NCoS.

A recording was posted online last week that supposedly features Bobrisky saying that his godfather helped him avoid serving a six-month sentence in Kirikiri prison in Lagos.

The minister said that the group led by Dr. Magdalena Ajani, the Permanent Secretary, would make sure everything is clear and responsible in the service.

“We want to make big improvements to the correctional system. ” Your main job is to look into claims of corruption, torture, and mistreatment of prisoners by prison guards, focusing especially on the recent case involving Bobrisky. I expect to have results in two weeks.

Tunji-Ojo said: “We will depend on your legal advice to make sure that everything we do follows the law. ” We need you to find a way to move forward and share the important information with the people of Nigeria. I want to make it clear: no one will be protected. “No one, no matter how important they are, will be protected. “
